This two day workshop will bring together the work of advanced graduate students and recent PhDs working on topics of current interest in modern South Asian Studies. Past papers have tackled issues ranging from film and ethnomusicology to state formation and elections, presenting new theoretical and methodological alternatives in the study of South Asia. To celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Modern South Asia Workshop, the event will be held at our partner institution, Ashoka University in India.
Accommodation and meals will be provided to all selected candidates for the days of the workshop in India.
International travel cost up to $800 will be reimbursed upon submission of original receipts to participants coming to India for the workshop.
Domestic travel cost upto $300 will be reimbursed upon submission of original receipts to participants traveling within India for the workshop.
Applications must be submitted online - Selected candidates will be informed by February 15, 2018. Candidates must submit their completed paper of 7000 words by March 15, 2018.
