Ahilan Kadirgamar, a political economist and senior lecturer at the University of Jaffna, and Viruben Nandakumar, a journalist and editorial board member at Tamil Guardian, will join us for an hour-long virtual event on the role of Sri Lanka's military and economic policies in precipitating their current political crisis. This event will discuss the island’s postwar development model, international aid relationships with the United States, India, and China as well as current repressive action taken by the government in the light of recent protests for specialists and non-specialists alike.

Organized through the South Asia-Markaz fellowship program.
